In Spanish, the word for jewelry is Joyéria. How beautiful is that!? There is no ‘function’, per se, that jewelry fills. It is a luxury. You cannot eat it (okay, maybe a candy necklace). It will not clothe or shelter you. It may retain some form of monetary value, and yet the real value is in the pleasure it brings the wearer, and the ‘joie de vivre’ that comes from within.
